Double or single opt-in

Choose whether people confirm their address first, and what they get by email.

Every project uses one of two ways to sign people up.

Double opt-in (default)

  1. The visitor joins and gets a confirmation email.
  2. The link in that email opens a page with one button. Only clicking that button confirms the address. Link scanners in mail programs open links too, so opening the page alone does nothing.
  3. After confirming, they get the welcome email with their spot in line, if the project sends one.

Use this when you're going to email the list later. It keeps typos and other people's addresses out of your list, and it proves consent.

Single opt-in

The visitor is on the list straight away and gets the welcome email at once, if the project sends one.

Your own emails

Without your own template, Waitlark sends a short email in your project's colours and the visitor's language. With your own template, you write the email yourself and Waitlark fills in:

PlaceholderBecomes
{{project}}Your project's name
{{position}}Their spot in line, written the local way (1,204 or 1.204)
{{confirm_url}}The confirmation link (confirmation email only)
{{unsubscribe_url}}The unsubscribe link

Emails come from your project's own address, such as hello@yourproduct.com. They're always shown in light colours, also when the reader's mail program is in dark mode.
